I love the holiday season. I have this weird countdown that goes on though where, as much as I love the holidays, I always feel like they slip away with each passing hour until those hours add up and the holidays are over.
This morning I was getting my breakfast when I looked out the window in the kitchen, and I saw the oncoming sunrise. The horizon of pale pink contrasting the slightly darker hue of blue over the tree tops and frosted baseball fields, all illuminated by the foreshadowing sun. As I took in this sight, that inner countdown stopped. It was as though looking at this outside picture reminded me that “Hey, slow down. Life isn’t a race to the finish. It’s a puzzle where you are constantly creating the pieces from small moments like this one. Enjoy the view.”
And enjoy I did.
